KATHMANDU, Nepal- The mercury of the capital city along with other parts of the country is likely to dip more in the coming days. The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has said that the inhabitants of the Kathmandu Valley will experience colder days in two days.

The minimum temperature of Kathmandu recorded on Monday is 2 degree centigrade.

Though clouds caused by a westerly trough in the hills and mountains of the country started getting clearer by Sunday, the valley will become colder.

According to the division, though mountain and hilly areas will have snowfall, fog caused by low moisture formation would be seen in the days ahead with gradual decrease in the temperature in capital valley.

Fog had formed in the valley after light rains in some parts of the capital and other regions two days ago. The MFD said there had been light rainfall two days back due to the cloudy weather.

The westerly trough from the Mediterranean basin has caused snowfall in the mountain regions and light rains in the high hills.

Although 5-7mm of rainfall from mid-November to mid-December was usual, this time the capital valley received no measurable rain.

As the winter has already begun in Nepal, people have started feeling cold in the morning and night time.

Currently, the overall weather in the mountains, hills and the Terai is normal with light snowfall in the high hills and light rains in the mountainous region and a cold wave in the Terai belt.

Meanwhile, the sharp fall in the mercury over the week has disrupted normal life across the mountainous districts. Schools were already closed and people started shifting to lower lands to avert the massive cold.
