Goma Air meets with an accident, all onboard safe

KATHMANDU, Nepal- Goma Air, a private airlines, met with an accident while landing in the Simikot airport in Humla district on Monday morning. All passengers and crew members onboard are reportedly said safe.

According to a television report, the single-engine Cessna Caravan aircraft met with an accident while landing in the Simikot airport in the Humla district headquarters on Monday morning.

There were nine passengers and two crew members on board when the aircraft met with an accident. Miraculously, all of them stayed unhurt.

According to the report, the aircraft hit a mound after its tyre burst on landing. It has been learnt that its right wing has been damaged.

The aircraft had taken off from Nepalgunj this morning carrying all Nepali nationals onboard.

The private airliner boasts two Cessna Grand Caravan 208 B aircraft, and focuses its operation in STOL airstrips of the Mid-Western and Far-Western Nepal with its base in Surkhet and Nepalgunj.

This is the second fatal airplane crash in Nepal in the last 10 days without any human casualties. On May 16, a Jomsom bound aircraft from Pokhara, belonging to Nepal Airlines has crashed in Mustang, some 200 kilometers northwest of Kathmandu. The plane met the crash while it skidded of the runway and fell into Kali Gandaki River. Eighteen passengers including eight Japanese tourists along with three crew members were on the board when the plane skidded of the runway . However, all remained safe except minor injuries.
